4 big draft gambles the Carolina Panthers could take at No. 6 overall
Carolina Panthers could gamble on Tyler Linderbaum – C (Iowa)
Tyler Linderbaum isn’t talked about enough for the Carolina Panthers at No. 6. He is a guy that can start at the center position for the next decade or more if he stays clear of any injury problems.
This position is an under-the-radar need Linderbaum can fill. But the Panthers could definitely look other guys over him judging by their reluctance to take linemen high during the first draft with Scott Fitterer working alongside Matt Rhule.
Linderbaum brings in dominating presence that is not only shown but driven into you by any means possible. He’s a shorter guy, but his lower body strength significantly helps him.
His NFL comparison is Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. Being compared to such a respected veteran around the league is a testament to the talent displayed by the Iowa product.
The interior offensive lineman would receive a major upgrade that many people would like. Certainly more effective than anything Matt Paradis and Pat Elflein managed to put together in 2021.
With bigger needs at the guard and possibly left tackle position, the Panthers could look to prospects not named Linderbaum. Maybe Charles Cross or Kenyon Green, for example.
It’s a deep offensive line class and the Panthers simply have to take advantage of it despite not having a second or third-round pick to speak of.
