Pittsburgh Steelers

The moment many anticipated came to fruition when Ben Roethlisberger officially retired following a glittering career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was the right call to make for a player that was trending on a downward slope pretty quickly, with some even arguing he should have walked away following the 2020 season.

Even though this was inevitable, the Steelers haven’t got much in the way of reliable options at the present time. Mason Rudolph has already proven incapable of being a productive starter and Dwayne Haskins simply hasn’t lived up to being a first-round pick coming out of Ohio State.

Mike Tomlin is not the sort of man to rebuild. He is constantly reloading and this could lead Pittsburgh into the quarterback market in the coming weeks.

Much like the Carolina Panthers, expect the Steelers to be aggressive – perhaps going after a big fish via trade or moving up the 2022 draft to select someone like Malik Willis – who Tomlin is reportedly high on.

Unlike the Panthers, Tomlin and the Steelers organization are two elements to the equation that command the utmost respect. But after Roethlisberger spent so long as the team’s starter, a period of slight transition is undoubtedly expected.
