4 QB situations worse than the Carolina Panthers this offseason
By Dean Jones
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back to prominence and a memorable Super Bowl trophy, quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement after a sensational NFL career that will be hard to replicate.
With seven rings and countless records under Brady’s belt, the Pro Football Hall of Fame-bound player has now decided to step aside and focus more on his family rather than the day-to-day grind of practice, preparation, and recovery. Simply put, this has been a long time coming for long-suffering fans of other organizations.
Although Brady was more than entitled to walk away on his own terms, it leaves the Buccaneers with a real problem if they want to harbor any hopes of making a difference once again in 2022.
It remains to be seen whether second-round pick Kyle Trask is ready to assume command under center. But he won’t have anything like the same fear factor and this is something that should put the Carolina Panthers and others in the NFC South on red alert.
Taking advantage of this will be difficult for the Panthers unless they find the right solutions to problem areas. However, with plenty of veterans also looking for new deals and not much money to go around, Tampa Bay’s fleeting dominance might end quicker than it originally began.
It will be strange watching the NFL without Brady, a player who stood the test of time and accomplished more than anyone dreamed after he was selected No. 199 overall out of Michigan.
