5 prospects with Matt Rhule links that the Panthers could draft in 2022

Carolina Panthers could draft Terrel Bernard – LB
It remains to be seen whether Jermaine Carter gets a contract extension from the Carolina Panthers this offseason. The middle linebacker didn’t really do enough to solidify the position long-term in 2021, which means the organization could be back to square one in pursuit of finding a successor to Luke Kuechly.
If the Panthers decide to go in a different direction, then Matt Rhule might look to the college ranks to form some sort of plan that the team can build around in the coming years. Although Terrel Bernard cannot be considered a Day 1 option, there might be a possibility for a productive NFL career providing the right adjustments are made.
Bernard was a commanding force at the second level during his time at Baylor, going over 100 tackles twice over the last three years and developing a keen eye to get after the quarterback when the opportunity arises.
High ceiling traits are why Bernard will hear his name called at some stage during the draft. He also possesses solid anticipation in coverage and can play anywhere across the linebacker corps to further enhance his stock.
There are some glaring elements to work on – most notably when it comes to angles of attack and building strength once he gets to the pros. However, Rhule will know if this can be progressed or not and Carolina would be a pretty good spot for the prospect to land.
