Can the Carolina Panthers get fans back onside?

There is clear dissension within the Carolina Panthers’ loyal fanbase right now. They are tired of cheering losing football and languishing in mediocrity, leaving little hope for the future as long as head coach Matt Rhule’s power remains almost absolute.

Most supporters have already formed their own opinion on Rhule, whose handling of personnel decisions has been questionable at best and a clear lack of in-game adjustments is another disappointing element of his time in the role so far.

However, it’s not a completely lost cause. All it would take is one of two marquee free agents to join Carolina to send expectations up a notch.

Whether the Panthers have the resources available to accomplish such a feat is unclear. But given what’s at stake for Rhule in 2022, they should at least try.

Perhaps veteran players will see Carolina as an unattractive destination due to their current predicament. However, if those in power are not aggressive and show a willingness to make bold moves, then morale will dip even further.

Another offseason of rash acquisitions and veterans clearly not up to the required standard won’t be tolerated. So the stakes could not be higher for a head coach that is firmly on the hot seat.
