5 OCs the Carolina Panthers should have hired instead of Ben McAdoo

Which potential offensive coordinator candidates would have been better for the Carolina Panthers, who eventually went with Ben McAdoo?
In a division that has seen Tom Brady and Sean Payton retire, the Carolina Panthers don’t have to put together a splashy offseason to have hopes of contention. Bringing in a veteran quarterback and retaining their roster would be enough to give the fanbase hope that better days are ahead.
Retaining Matt Rhule was a bold decision considering how he presented himself when the team was struggling. The head coach deflected blame to his players and coaches, not owning the fact he put together all this himself and realizing their failure was his own.
Despite this, Carolina had a bit of hope a new offensive coordinator and a productive preparation period would send the Panthers in the right direction.
Ben McAdoo was last hired by the Dallas Cowboys as an offensive consultant. Not a coordinator or in charge of a player group but simply in an advisory role. Before that, he had a memorable stint as the New York Giants head coach that ended with him being fired for a myriad of reasons.
His next stop was with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the quarterbacks’ coach – a job he was fired from as well. To say McAdoo is a downgrade from Joe Brady isn’t a stretch whatsoever. He may have more NFL experience, but the jury is still out as to whether he’ll be a success in Carolina or not.
With this in mind, here are five potential offensive coordinator options that might have been better for the Panthers in 2022.
