Which upcoming free agents competing in the Super Bowl should the Carolina Panthers watch closely as potential targets this spring?

It’s the showcase of the immortals. The moment where every NFL player wants to be and the pinnacle of professional football.

Super Bowl week is always the most important date on the calendar. Something the Carolina Panthers have experienced before without ever getting over the hump and securing an elusive Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The Panthers last appeared in Super Bowl 50 where they suffered a demoralizing defeat to the Denver Broncos. Things haven’t been quite the same since and another five-win campaign in 2021 means it could be a good while yet before Carolina gets another shot at their first championship in franchise history.

That’s not to see Carolina won’t be taking an interest in what transpires at SoFi Stadium. Here are five upcoming free agents playing in the Super Bowl the team should watch.

Carolina Panthers should watch Austin Corbett – OG

The Carolina Panthers are desperate for assistance on their offensive line. This problem positional group has been a constant thorn in the team’s side over the last two seasons and some substantial investment is needed in free agency or the 2022 NFL Draft to strengthen this obvious weak link.

Austin Corbett could emerge as a potential target if the Los Angeles Rams cannot work out something to keep him around. The interior protector is exactly what the Panthers are looking for, becoming a model of consistency and someone who’d generate a significant amount of interest on the free-agent market.

Corbett could make himself some serious money with a commanding display in the Super Bowl. But whether the Panthers can free up enough financial resources for this to become a realistic option is another matter.
