5 quarterbacks the Carolina Panthers should avoid in 2022

Carolina Panthers should avoid Ryan Fitzpatrick
Perhaps the Carolina Panthers might look to the free-agent market for a veteran that can compete with Sam Darnold in training camp. This might be the best possible avenue that doesn’t mortgage their future in the process, but choosing wisely is the only way thing is going to come with any degree of optimism.
Great quarterbacks don’t hit the market often. The same can also be said for good or moderate performers more often than not.
That makes it difficult for the Panthers to make the moves needed. Even though there could be a temptation to look in Ryan Fitzpatrick’s direction, it’s something Carolina’s front office should avoid at all costs.
Fitzpatrick is an enigma, a larger-than-life personality that’s enjoyed some memorable moments throughout his career. However, he is a little long in the tooth right now and there is also the small matter of a serious injury the signal-caller suffered early in the season with the Washington Commanders to consider.
The veteran is not the most consistent player when the pressure is on, which is a problem that the Panthers could do without given how much Sam Darnold has struggled in this regard. Fitzpatrick could end up with a gig somewhere, but the risks far outweigh the reward where Carolina is concerned.
