Carolina Panthers could sign Taylor Stallworth

  • 2021 team – Indianapolis Colts

If the Carolina Panthers want to pursue a high upside defensive tackle that is unlikely to cost the earth, then Taylor Stallworth is a name to monitor. After a slow start to life in the NFL, the player demonstrated flashes of true quality for the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 and could be an intriguing option if DaQuan Jones is let go.

Stallworth played just 33 percent of the team’s defensive snaps last season. But he made his time on the field count with some eye-catching stats that should make other teams sit up and take notice.

He is also linked to the area having played his college football at South Carolina, which is a program Matt Rhule has taken plenty of talent from during his first two years in the role. Stallworth has the explosiveness and natural instincts to potentially become a productive starter, but we won’t know for sure until someone gives him that opportunity.

Stallworth generated three sacks, 16 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, four tackles for loss, and 13 pressures without missing a single tackle. Easily the best statistical season of his pro career and this also came with a 60.9 grade from Pro Football Focus.

With Matt Eberflus now head coach of the Chicago Bears, there could be some comings and goings for the Colts. If Stallworth is not brought back, then the Panthers might be able to acquire an individual who clearly has his best years ahead of him.
