5 draft prospects that could help Sam Darnold most in 2022

Cole Turner could help Sam Darnold
Letting Greg Olsen depart for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 free agency was an error in hindsight. The prolific Pro Bowler was one of the best-ever weapons at the position thanks to dependability and big-game prowess, something that the Carolina Panthers have yet to replace efficiently.
Perhaps Tommy Tremble can make the necessary strides to become a true No. 1 at the tight end position this offseason. The former Notre Dame star’s athleticism is off the charts, but he does need some additional refinement in the passing game to reach his full potential.
The Panthers might look to bring in another veteran from the free-agent market with Ian Thomas out of contract. But this would cost a lot more than taking another college prospect with high ceiling traits that could make a difference as the season goes on.
Cole Turner fits the bill in this regard. The player arrives at the next level having enjoyed a fantastic stint with Nevada, where he became a trusted target of Carson Strong and although a period of adjustment is expected, there is a lot to like about his chances of forging a successful NFL career.
Having a consistent tight-end presence is something Sam Darnold wasn’t afforded during his first year in Carolina. Turner might not be that immediately, but he could assist with a little more development once the coaching staff removes some problem areas from his game and improve the player’s route tree.
