Carolina Panthers could sign Tyrod Taylor

One would be hard-pressed to find a quarterback more unfortunate than Tyrod Taylor over the last two seasons. The veteran suffered a punctured lung caused by his medical team on the Los Angeles Chargers before the 2020 season and another starting chance with the Houston Texans brought another unfortunate injury at just the wrong time.

This allowed rookies Justin Herbert and Davis Mills windows of opportunity that they didn’t waste. Leaving Taylor potentially on the outside looking in despite the Texans clearly moving forward without Deshaun Watson.

Taylor is a solid pro and a tremendous leader within the locker room. He might be heading into the twilight of his career, but a strong presence could be exactly what Sam Darnold needs at a critical period for the No. 3 overall selection in 2018.

Much like the potential scenarios with Mitchell Trubisky and Marcus Mariota, Taylor could see the Carolina Panthers as a team where he’d have a realistic chance of starting Week 1. And it’s easy to forget he was a Pro Bowler once upon a time following a tremendous campaign with the Buffalo Bills in 2015.

Taylor has a career completion percentage of 61.3 percent with 59 touchdowns to 25 interceptions. The Virginia Tech product is also a threat on the ground, rushing for 2,001 and 19 scores.
