7 quarterbacks the Carolina Panthers could target in 2022 free agency

Carolina Panthers could sign Jameis Winston
Jameis Winston’s career can best be described as enigmatic. There appears little doubt that he has the physical tools to become a real force in the right fit, but erratic decision-making under pressure has constantly plagued the former No. 1 overall selection and although this looked to have turned a corner with the New Orleans Saints, a serious knee injury derailed his progress and it remains to be seen whether the team keeps him around.
Much will depend on how Winston’s progressing with his rehabilitation. But if the Saints decide to take their chances with Taysom Hill or someone else, then this could be an intriguing option for the Carolina Panthers as they look to find an upgrade on Sam Darnold.
Winston has his flaws. There’s no getting away from that.
However, his good moments are jaw-dropping at times and this could be an X-factor that the Panthers need from within their own division.
If Winston isn’t going to be ready for training camp, then signing him is a hard sell. Coming into a new organization is complex for a quarterback at the best of times and even more so without a full offseason to develop chemistry, learn the playbook, and adjust to different surroundings.
Exciting options are seldom available on the free-agent market. From this standpoint, Winston could be the best of the bunch.
