Which Carolina Panthers players don’t deserve another season with the team in 2022 based on their recent production?

There are some huge decisions looming for the Carolina Panthers this offseason. A series of poor personnel moves and a catastrophic run of results leave the organization right on the brink of disaster unless things turn around quickly, which is not what team owner David Tepper envisaged when he invested heavily in head coach Matt Rhule to prevent him from joining the New York Giants.

Rhule has been quiet and noticeably absent from prominent events such as the 2022 Senior Bowl, which is something of a surprise considering he was front and center of almost everything this time last year. The pressure is well and truly on despite Tepper’s confidence in his appointment, so it’s essential this stage of preparations if the former Baylor man wants to prove his doubters wrong next time around.

This is a situation hanging by a thread. And in truth, Rhule could have had no complaints if Tepper had opted to go in a different direction after the Panthers lost 12 of their final 14 games.

Some individuals might not be afforded such a luxury. Here are five Panthers players who don’t deserve another season with the team in 2022.

Cam Erving – Carolina Panthers OT

There were more than a few skeptics when the Carolina Panthers signed Cam Erving to a two-year deal within hours of free agency getting underway. But those in power felt pretty confident this could be the place the former first-round pick finally starts fulfilling his pre-draft potential.

As it turned out, this was another gamble that didn’t pay off. Erving was lackluster at best throughout the campaign and also dealt with some injuries that caused the Florida State product to miss no fewer than eight games.

Cutting Erving would cost the Panthers around $4 million and save $2 million. A steep price to pay but one they should consider nonetheless.
