Which quarterbacks could the Carolina Panthers be targeting based on what’s transpired so far during the 2022 offseason period?

It won’t be much longer before we find out just what the Carolina Panthers are going to do at the quarterback position. Sam Darnold‘s trade from the New York Jets didn’t turn out as many anticipated and unless the front office finds a willing trade partner, they’ll be stuck with his $18.85 million contract in 2022 following a bizarre move to pick up his fifth-year option without participating in a single practice.

However, anyone thinking this is going to stop team owner David Tepper from making another bold move might be out of luck. The billionaire has not been shy about swinging for the fences since buying the Panthers from Jerry Richardson and he might use his influence once again this spring in pursuit of landing a game-changing player under center.

This might be easier said than done with $17.82 million in cap space and one pick in the first three rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft. But make no mistake, that will not stop Tepper and the Panthers from trying.

There is a lot on the line for Carolina this offseason. Another five-win season – a third in succession – demonstrates clearly Matt Rhule’s rebuild is not on a positive track and relying on Darnold next time around could come with severe ramifications.

With this in mind, here are three quarterbacks the Panthers are rumored to be targeting in the very near future.
