Carolina Panthers trade offer No. 2

Perhaps a second-round pick is asking too much considering the season Robby Anderson’s just had. The Carolina Panthers got almost no consistency in the passing game outside of D.J. Moore, who once again heightened his overall influence despite a lack of quality under center for his third-straight 1,000-yard season, but the former Temple star wasn’t able to get anywhere close to these numbers.

Anderson is a likable character that has the talent to do much better. But linking up with Sam Darnold once again just didn’t have the desired impact and his obvious mood change when Cam Newton came back was a damning indictment of how his relationship with the USC product was developing.

The New York Jets need to surround Zach Wilson with reliable weapons in the passing game this offseason. There might be a new regime in place, but Anderson’s familiarity with some roster members could enable a smooth transition back to MetLife Stadium in this scenario.

Considering the Jets would also be taking on Anderson’s contract, a third-round pick and a late-rounder in 2023 might be the best Carolina could hope for. However, New York might not even be interested in getting the wideout and could opt to take their chances with a dynamic weapon from the college ranks instead.

This might be something and nothing, there’s just no way to say for sure. However, it is a situation everyone associated with the Panthers should monitor closely.
