Carolina Panthers could get valuable draft capital

The Carolina Panthers are currently without a second or third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after trades for Sam Darnold and C.J. Henderson. Considering how much viable starting talent is available in the top-100 in this year’s class, it is a bad year to be lacking a Day 2 selection in the grand scheme of things.

Of course, general manager Scott Fitterer could rectify this by trading down from No. 6 overall depending on how the draft board plays out. The Panthers could also move on some veteran pieces in pursuit of landing additional capital.

Robby Anderson’s rumored unhappiness with how things are transpiring in Carolina could be all the organization needs to start fielding calls. If they could get something decent back in return, then it’s better to pull the trigger rather than keep someone who doesn’t want to be a part of the team’s plans moving forward.

The New York Jets and New York Giants are also reportedly willing to become middlemen for any franchise looking to get their hands on a top quarterback in the trade market, according to Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network. Another element that could see Carolina sacrifice a couple of starting players for a shot at someone like Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson.

This is all speculation at this point. Anderson is probably enjoying his time away from team activities after such a morale-sapping season, but only time will tell as to whether it evolves into something more.
