Carolina Panthers must consider Kalif Raymond
Another option that has to come under consideration for the Carolina Panthers is Kalif Raymond. The well-traveled return specialist is coming off a sensational 2021 season with the Detroit Lions and at 27 years old, could have plenty more left in the tank entering free agency.
It’s likely the Lions would put up a strong fight to keep the player around. Raymond averaged an impressive 11.2 yards per punt return during the recent campaign and his elusiveness in tight windows is matched by explosiveness in the open field that would be a fantastic addition to the Panthers if they opt to go in a different direction this offseason.
The prospect of working with such a talented coordinator in Chris Tabor is something that makes Carolina an attractive destination for pending free agents. Producing so many Pro Bowl returners in such a short space of time commands instant respect and something that might even propel Raymond’s game in the process.
In addition to this, Raymond also came of age in the passing game last season. He thrived with additional targets, bringing in 48 receptions for 576 receiving yards and four touchdowns, which would be a major asset for the Panthers coming out of the slot position.
Raymond is projected to get a one-year, $2.9 million deal according to Spotrac. This wouldn’t be the best in terms of financial security for the player, but it is something that the Panthers could potentially afford.
