Which safeties could the Carolina Panthers potentially try and acquire if Juston Burris and Sean Chandler leave in 2022 free agency?

Last season the Carolina Panthers had one of the top secondaries in the league. But the safety position was like a revolving door opposite second-year-pro and rising star Jeremy Chinn.

They had multiple guys at the safety position and the pass defense continued to have success. The Panthers need to find a consistent presence alongside Chinn to help with some of the deep ball troubles that came back to haunt them once again.

A big add for the secondary was Steve Wilks returning as a coach, who was previously with the Panthers from 2012-2017.  He is a highly respected figure that can elevate any player to the next level.

Chinn was a chess piece for the Panthers’ defense with 511 snaps in the box and 158 snaps at the free safety position. He continued to make plays for Carolina in his second season and has a huge future ahead of him.

Veteran safety Juston Burris had an injury-riddled season. He started off strongly, but this turned sour for a second-straight year once he was forced to the sidelines.

A guy that later emerged into the starting safety position was West Virginia product, Kenny Robinson. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule had high praise towards the end of the season for the former XFL star, who is a big hitter with good tackling ability.

The Panthers had many auditions at the safety position, but they need to find the guy this offseason. With that said, here are six safeties Carolina must consider in free agency.
