Carolina Panthers must be better prepared without Christian McCaffrey

Things actually looked quite promising for the Carolina Panthers at one stage last season. The team was 3-0 and Christian McCaffrey looked better than ever, but another injury suffered at the Houston Texans derailed his progress significantly and resulted in the running back featuring just seven times throughout the campaign.

McCaffrey has now turned out just 10 times in two seasons. Not exactly the best recipe for success and something the Panthers were not ready for in the slightest.

An over-reliance on McCaffrey has been at the forefront of Carolina’s failings even in the final days of Ron Rivera. Something that’s played a leading role in some problems emerging from a health standpoint.

This cannot continue in 2022 and Ben McAdoo has to make sure the Panthers are better prepared in the event McCaffrey is forced to miss any time. Being predictable and anemic without the former first-round pick is no longer an option.

Hopefully, McCaffrey can change his approach to a degree that improves his chances of putting a prolonged run of games together. The Panthers also need to do their part by taking some heat off their best offensive weapon both carrying the football and in the passing game.

Finding a solution to this complication is going to make or break Carolina’s 2022 season.
