Carolina Panthers must make better use of D.J. Moore’s skills

Considering it was yet another season of inconsistent quarterback play, the production of wide receiver D.J. Moore was once again of the highest standard. The former Maryland standout went over 1,000 receiving yards for a third-straight year, which represents a significant achievement when one considers literally everything around the player was crumbling.

This is a big season for Moore, who could earn himself a substantial amount of money if he’s not extended ahead of time. Whether the Carolina Panthers have another signal-caller in place by then remains to be seen, but Ben McAdoo has to find a better way of utilizing his primary wideout’s exceptional skill set to hit the ground running as offensive coordinator.

Moore is a solid asset in the passing game. But perhaps his best attribute is what transpires with the football in the player’s hands.

He is a dangerous individual creating yards after the catch and could even be used in a similar fashion to how the San Francisco 49ers deploy Deebo Samuel. That is how special Moore might be if he is used in the right way.

That will be a task McAdoo has to figure out. Moore was the only reliable pass-catcher outside of Christian McCaffrey and the underused Brandon Zylstra in 2021, so the more he can get involved, the better the team’s chances will be.
