5 shocking draft picks the Carolina Panthers could make at No. 6
Carolina Panthers could select Kayvon Thibodeaux
Kayvon Thibodeaux is a name that since the start of the draft has been associated with a top-three pick and is well known among most football fans, and for good reason. After all, the explosive edge rusher is an exceedingly gifted athlete who was highly effective during his time at Oregon.
When you watch Thibodeaux on tape, it is obvious he has an athletic profile similar to Myles Garrett and can dominate and overwhelm tackles very quickly. While his sack numbers were not off the charts, the pressure he places on the quarterback jumps off the tape, as does his overall impact on the game.
Taking another defensive end is not exactly a huge need for the Carolina Panthers. But the temptation to have elite talent on the edge of the defense opposite Brian Burns to terrify NFC South quarterbacks for the next 10 years is obviously there if Thibodeaux falls into their laps.
In a class stacked with offensive line talent, Thibodeaux could slip his way to sixth pick. In this case, the Panthers should absolutely pounce on the elite player at a premium position.
Teams can never have enough good pass rushers, and ones of the talent level of Thibodeaux do not come around too often.
