5 cornerbacks the Carolina Panthers could target in 2022 free agency

Carolina Panthers could sign Charvarius Ward
This one might be a bit of a reach since it’s very possible that Charvarius Ward is out of the Carolina Panthers’ price range. But he’s one of the more underrated guys after putting together a career year with the Kansas City Chiefs.
As an undrafted free agent, it took Ward a year to come into his own but the 25-year-old has compiled four interceptions, 29 passes defended, and 192 combined tackles in the past three campaigns.
The biggest strength that Ward has is his tackling, but he has shown to give up some big plays at times. Depending on the price, the pure potential of signing a young guy like him could be beneficial for the Panthers.
When teams played against the Chiefs they would have to throw the ball a lot more to try and keep pace. Putting Ward in an offense that isn’t as high-powered might make opponents not target him as much.
Pro Football Focus projects Ward to receive a three-year, $34.5 million deal. This seems like a lot more than Carolina should offer, but they have to at least give him a call and see where he stands.
