Carolina Panthers could target Jalyn Holmes

Although adding more talent to the defensive front wouldn’t be classed as a top priority for the Carolina Panthers right now, that could all change depending on the status of players such as DaQuan Jones, Marquis Haynes, and Haason Reddick. If any of these prominent veteran pieces depart the team, then a replacement or two should be sought at some stage.

Considering money is tight, it’s unlikely all three will stay on. Although the ability to manipulate the salary cap is there for all to see.

Versatility is a key trait the Panthers look for in almost all their recruits. But whether this approach continues during such a pivotal offseason period is another matter.

If it does, then expect Jalyn Holmes to enter their train of thought. The former Ohio State star can operate anywhere across the line and did compete against the Panthers in 2021 during his time on the New Orleans Saints.

Holmes managed just eight games in New Orleans last time around. But there wouldn’t be any pressure to contribute from a starting role providing the likes of Daviyon Nixon and Yetur Gross-Matos make their expected strides.

Getting Holmes onto the rotation could be a shrewd move by the Panthers. And considering the Saints’ cap situation, it appears highly unlikely the player will be offered an extension.
