5 high-risk free agents the Carolina Panthers should consider in 2022

Carolina Panthers could target Nate Solder
A complete makeover of the offensive line should be among the Carolina Panthers’ biggest priorities in the coming weeks. Protection of whoever manned the quarterback spot was a complete catastrophe in 2021 and this key positional group has been ignored by the front office for far too long.
Something has to change.
And there is no time like the present.
One expects the Panthers to use the No. 6 overall selection on a premier lineman and even if they trade down to acquire more capital. However, finding some veteran free agents that could provide instant solutions should also be considered when free agency hits.
Nate Solder didn’t enjoy the best season with the New York Giants last time around, giving up six sacks and conceding six penalties en route to a 60.3 grade from Pro Football Focus. Although his best days are behind him, the two-time Super Bowl winner could welcome a change of scenery to get his career back on track.
At the peak of his powers, Solder was a commanding force protecting the edge. He has the sort of length and physicality Carolina likes in their linemen and providing the price is right, could come under consideration if the Giants decide to cut their losses.
Again, this would be a big risk that could go either way. If it paid off, then the Panthers’ offensive line would get a huge boost at just the right time.
