Carolina Panthers should watch Kyler Gordon

The Carolina Panthers got themselves a solid cornerback from the University of Washington in 2021 when they selected Keith Taylor Jr. in the fifth round. Considering where the player was drafted, he performed well after being tasked with more than originally planned when Jaycee Horn went down with a broken foot.

This is arguably Carolina’s strongest positional group. But that could all change if either Donte Jackson or Stephon Gilmore leave in free agency.

If what transpires in the coming weeks leads the Panthers to secure another college prospect, then they could do far worse than look in Kyler Gordon’s direction. His athleticism is off the charts and the production during his time on the Huskies is right there to match.

Everything came together finally for Gordon in 2021, who quickly emerged as one of college football’s most dependable cover corners. His partnership with Trent McDuffie – another who is expected to go high – was outstanding and a strong NFL Scouting Combine could cement his status as a second-round pick when it’s all said and done.

Carolina is not exactly blessed with valuable draft assets on Day 2. However, if Gordon or someone else impresses the decision-makers enough, then the Panthers can make some moves.

Gordon is going to test strongly at Lucas Oil Stadium. But becoming more disciplined is absolutely essential for the player upon arriving in the pros.
