Carolina Panthers should watch Matt Corral

The quarterback carousel once against played a leading role in the Carolina Panthers failing to build on a positive start last season. Trading for Sam Darnold was a grave mistake and judging by recent reports across the league, the organization is not too willing to give him another campaign to prove he can successfully perform at the NFL level.

Drafting a quarterback is probably something the Panthers should have done last season from a much stronger class. If they go down this route in 2022, there is no guarantee any incoming recruit can come in and make an immediate impression.

Carolina got the chance to see some top prospects at the Senior Bowl. So it might be worth focusing a little more attention on one signal-caller that wasn’t in Mobile at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Matt Corral suffered a disappointing injury to end his final year at Ole Miss, but he comes with some exciting traits that could see the player become a productive starter. However, it’s important that early expectations are kept to a minimum in pursuit of allowing the prospect to fully acclimatize to the next level.

Corral is a smooth mover in and out of the pocket who displays solid accuracy on short to intermediate throws. He has an NFL arm and although decision-making and velocity of his throws need work, this is a player with more upside than most at the position coming out of the college ranks this year.
