Carolina Panthers 7-round 2022 NFL mock draft: Pre-Combine edition
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers trade down from No. 44
Trading down once again to start the second round gets the Carolina Panthers another selection inside the top-115. Not exactly a bad situation considering where they started the draft process.
This is the only way the organization is going to have a chance of making some serious improvements to the roster. So expect Scott Fitterer to be extremely active this spring in a similar fashion to what we saw in 2021.
Carolina Panthers select Jamaree Salyer
As stated previously, the Panthers are desperate for help on their offensive line. And what better way to address this than selecting a player who contributed significantly to Georgia’s outstanding national championship triumph in 2021.
Jamaree Salyer seems to be going relatively overlooked compared to most top prospects at the tackle position. That could be because some teams see him as a guard at the next level, but he is accomplished almost anywhere on the protection and this is a trait Carolina has sought heavily throughout their recruitment process since Matt Rhule came into the fold.
Salyer occupied the blindside last season for the Bulldogs and excelled. He also has plenty of high-quality film on the interior and this could potentially allow the Panthers to switch Brady Christensen if they remain unconvinced about his abilities to perform consistently at left tackle moving forward.
This would be a tremendously high-value pick for the Panthers. Salyer has the production and the pedigree, which won’t go unnoticed by other teams across the league.
