4 quarterback trades the Panthers should avoid at all costs in 2022

Carolina Panthers should avoid Derek Carr
Another quarterback facing an uncertain future is Derek Carr. The player emerged from a turbulent season with the Las Vegas Raiders with a great deal of credit – guiding them to the postseason in difficult circumstances – but with a new regime in place, they might decide to take their chances with someone else and maximize value in the trade market.
Of all the options on this list, Carr might be the most intriguing. Someone that could easily outperform Sam Darnold and properly utilize some outstanding weapons in the passing game.
However, the Carolina Panthers should think twice about trading for any quarterback unless it’s someone that can move the needle from also-rans to legitimate contenders. Something that Carr might not be able to do.
That’s not to say Carr couldn’t elevate the Panthers. And there could be a window of opportunity for Carolina in the NFC South with Tom Brady’s retirement and Sean Payton departing the New Orleans Saints.
A winning record or making the playoffs would be enough for Rhule to get another season, one suspects. So he might decide that Carr is a risk worth taking if made available to achieve these objectives.
As the old saying goes, desperate men do desperate things. If the Raiders start taking calls, one suspects the Panthers could be at the front of the queue for good or bad.
