Cam Newton is a vastly experienced quarterback and an alpha within the locker room. Someone that any young quarterback would be honored to work with and learn from before eventually assuming command under center.
The Carolina Panthers have been linked with taking one of the top college quarterbacks this year. They met with Sam Howell, Kenny Pickett, and Malik Willis among others at the NFL Scouting Combine, although expecting any prospect to come in and make an immediate impact is unrealistic considering how this draft class is perceived.
That’s why it’s vital for the Panthers to have a leader to hold down the fort and assist with a potential college player’s transition to the pros. Relying on Sam Darnold for this wouldn’t be the best way to go about things, which is why Newton is a far better option providing the money works and everyone knows where they stand.
Newton is a Pro Bowler, an All-Pro, and a former NFL MVP. Quarterbacks of that caliber don’t grow on trees and there’s just no telling how much this would benefit a young hopeful entering the league who is looking to follow in his footsteps.
There isn’t a harder worker than Newton, who is also meticulous in his game-day preparation. Should Pickett, Willis, or Howell could adopt this mentality if Carolina goes down this path, then the long-term future could look very bright indeed.
