Carolina Panthers should consider Christian Kirksey

Although the Houston Texans had little to shout about in 2021, the production of Christian Kirksey was a shining light after his arrival from the Green Bay Packers in free agency. This came at just the right time for the linebacker, who has put himself in a strong position regarding a potential extension with his current team or a long-term deal elsewhere should he hit the market.

Kirksey is an explosive player that can make things happen on any given down. The former Iowa stud anticipates things extremely well at the second level and packs a big punch in the tackling department, which could go down a storm with the Carolina Panthers in this scenario.

While Kirksey doesn’t offer too much when it comes to generating pressure from the interior with just two sacks in the last four years, it’s easy to forget he was a force in this area of play during his stint with the Cleveland Browns and also has the versatility to play as an outside linebacker should the coaching staff wish.

Another area where the player excels from a coverage standpoint. Something that is further reflected in eight passes defended and one interception for the Texans last time around.

It promises to be another offseason of significant change in Houston, so Kirksey might be available at a nice price for the Panthers if they identify him as a player of interest.
