4 critical observations from Malik Willis at the 2022 NFL Combine

Carolina Panthers have a huge decision to make
The momentum and hype surrounding Malik Willis are officially through the roof. A high character prospect that has all the tools needed to develop into a top player at the next level.
Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith liked what he saw from Willis during his NFL Scouting Combine drills. Even pointing out that Liberty is not too far from Bank of America Stadium in the grand scheme of things.
"“You know, Liberty’s not that far away from Carolina…we’re not knockin’ em down in the quarterback category…so…just sayin.”"
It was generally perceived that no quarterback in this class is worthy of a top-10 pick. Some analysts don’t even have one within the first round on their respective big boards.
However, there is always a prospect that emerges from the shadows into high-end consideration.
Last year it was Trey Lance. This time around it is Willis.
Selecting Willis at No. 6 overall is a franchise-altering call for the Panthers, who don’t have much leeway for another quarterback gamble to go wrong. With that being said, a serious discussion needs to be had considering the talent that’s clearly matched with the right attitude and character traits away from the gridiron.
Carolina’s fanbase hasn’t been excited about a quarterback since Cam Newton was in his prime. If the Panthers took Willis, that would change in a heartbeat.
