Which college prospects could be moving up the Carolina Panthers draft board following their outstanding performances at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine?

The 2022 NFL Scouting Combine is in the books and the Carolina Panthers should now have a firmer indication of what their draft board will look like ahead of the pro-day season. This was another hugely successful showcase of more than 300 college prospects looking to make their way at the next level, with many standing out considerably to boost their stock at the best possible time.

Anticipating what the Panthers might do during the all-important selection weekend is tricky, although Scott Fitterer appeared to narrow down their options at No. 6 overall. The general manager wasted no time in highlighting the big needs on the offensive line and quarterback, with a potential trade down to acquire additional capital something else that will rightfully be under consideration.

Given how perilous Carolina’s situation could be if they don’t make the necessary improvements during the offseason, any false moves could come with severe ramifications. It’s therefore vital the Panthers have similar if not better draft success than they achieved from a strong class in 2021.

With this in mind, here are eight prospects who could be surging up the Panthers draft board thanks to their performances at the combine.

Prospect No. 1

Zion Johnson – OL (Boston College)

Finding assistance on the offensive line is of paramount importance for the Carolina Panthers during free agency and the draft. This bears more significance on the interior, with no veteran currently on the roster guaranteed a starting berth based on their contributions during the previous campaign.

One player that’s done his chances no harm at all this offseason is Zion Johnson. The Boston College product is a brute force who displayed his power and athleticism throughout combine drills, which should all but guarantee he is taken in the first round next month.

Carolina won’t consider Johnson at No. 6. But if they do manage to trade down, then the imposing guard could come into the equation.
