8 prospects surging up Panthers draft board after the 2022 Combine
By Dean Jones
Channing Tindall – LB (Georgia)
One of the main objectives for the Carolina Panthers this offseason is to finally find a long-term successor to legendary linebacker Luke Kuechly. The last two attempts haven’t gone according to plan, with Tahir Whitehead and Jermaine Carter failing to meet expectations on a defense that did show signs of life despite getting almost no assistance on the offensive side of the football.
There are some enticing options available in free agency that could provide a short-term answer. But going down the draft route could give the Panthers something longer-term if they pick the right guy.
Someone like Channing Tindall ticks all the boxes. The supreme second-level defender played a significant role for the Georgia Bulldogs during their convincing national championship triumph in 2021 and there is a big chance awaiting the player providing he can build on this positive momentum at the next level.
Tindall formed a fantastic partnership with Nakobe Dean, who is expected to be a first-round selection this year. His explosiveness is off the charts and this is something the linebacker used to his advantage with a starring performance at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Whether the Panthers miss out on Tindall with no second or third-round picks is the big question. This is where the prospect is expected to go and unless Carolina can find a trade-down partner, they might be out of luck.
