4 kickers the Carolina Panthers should consider in 2022 free agency
Carolina Panthers could sign Younghoe Koo
The next option takes us to a kicker that played with a division rival during 2021. Younghoe Koo may not make the most headlines, but the player proved last season that he could be a consistent option.
Koo spent his rookie campaign with the Los Angeles Chargers and played his last three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Over the course of his career, the pending free agent has shown improvement and that he can be consistent.
While his best year on field goals was in 2020 with 95 percent, Koo still managed to make 93% of his field goals last season. He was also one of the league’s best kickers on extra-point attempts, as he concluded last season without missing one.
Koo is currently 27 years old and would be another great young option for the Carolina Panthers to explore if Zan Gonzalez cannot be extended. Extra-point attempts were also another critical factor across the league last season, and Matt Rhule’s men could’ve used perfection on them in some of their close games.
This kicker would bring consistency to the Panthers, while also doing some damage to the Falcons’ special teams unit. A double-whammy that would undoubtedly improve the team’s chances of winning the NFC South.
