Denver Broncos could move for Christian McCaffrey

  • No. 9 overall selection in 2022

The Denver Broncos will be one of the most interesting teams to watch of the offseason. With a great young core and Von Miller and Aaron Rodgers rumors swirling, this is a team that could go in either direction.

A lot will be decided by Rodgers and whether or not he chooses to go to Denver. In that hypothetical, the Broncos should be more than willing to give up the No. 9 overall selection in exchange for Christian McCaffrey, a player who would pair well with the quarterback.

However, there is a big chance this pick would also need to be used to facilitate a trade for Rodgers, which will not be cheap by any stretch of the imagination despite his advancing years.

Denver going all-in would allow McCaffrey a chance to get healthy and give him a fresh start while providing the Carolina Panthers with another pick inside the top 10. They would have a chance at picking their quarterback of the future such as Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, or Matt Corral, and still getting another impact player on the offensive line.

The one issue with this scenario is the fact it is hard to find a fit on Denver’s roster in a potential trade and the fact they have a potential star already occupying the backfield in Javonte Williams.  Future capital might be enough to convince Carolina, and the North Carolina product demonstrated he could shoulder plenty of responsibility at a fraction of the cost during his rookie campaign.
