Many of us will say even with Christian McCaffrey, this team doesn’t have an identity. For better or worse, he is the team’s offense and the undisputed face of the franchise right now despite he problems staying on the field.

This team runs through him and if McCaffrey departs, the Panthers will look completely different going into next season.

At only 25 years old, McCaffrey is a senior member of this Panthers organization. He is one of four players on the roster who went to the playoffs with Carolina back in 2017.

The other three were Taylor Moton, Shaq Thompson, and veteran long-snapper J.J. Jansen.

Losing McCaffrey would truly mean that times are changing in Carolina. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing at the moment, I’m unsure.

But what McCaffrey brings to the Panthers is truly something special. Losing that wouldn’t be an easy task to handle unless the compensation was substantial.
