What are some arguments for and against the Carolina Panthers trading for Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love this offseason?

After months of drama, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers put any rumors about him leaving town to rest on Tuesday by agreeing to remain with the franchise long-term, which was a huge relief to everyone associated with the organization.

Although this puts the Packers in a strong position to contend, it puts into doubt the future of backup Jordan Love, who was drafted in the first round by Green Bay just two years ago is now left on the bench for at least another few years if he isn’t traded.

The Carolina Panthers still remain one of a handful of teams that are in the market for a quarterback upgrade. While Love doesn’t have much of an NFL resume to show, there will likely be plenty of interest for the former first-rounder based on his intangibles.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, Love was picked No. 26 overall, the fourth quarterback selected in the first round behind Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, and Justin Herbert.

Obviously, two of those three guys have become stars and the other could still be one, leaving Love as the lone unproven guy.

There were a lot of questions about why the Packers took Love, considering Rodgers was still one of the best signal-callers in the league and they had other needs. But as we’ve seen in the NFL, sometimes not playing at all is the best way to increase your value.

With that said, here is a look at the reasons for and against the Panthers potentially trading for Love this offseason.
