6 reasons for and against the Panthers trading for Jordan Love

Carolina Panthers would have to give up assets for someone unproven
Probably the biggest argument against this trade is that if the Carolina Panthers were to get Jordan Love, they would have to give something up.
Whether it’s cheaper than trading for Deshaun Watson or moving up in the draft, it’s still an asset that can be used in a future trade for someone who hasn’t proven anything yet like Love.
As mentioned earlier, Love will likely cost around a second or third-round pick. While that’s a Day 2 selection, it’s still extremely valuable and something the Panthers don’t even have at the present moment after sacrificing them before and during the 2021 season for deals to acquire Sam Darnold and cornerback C.J. Henderson.
If the Panthers can keep as many assets as possible to use in a bigger type of trade either this season or next, that’s the best way to go. Although head coach Matt Rhule might not make it that long if he opts to go with Darnold once again in 2022.
Even if it’s a fourth-rounder, fans would never live it down if Love were to struggle after a trade. And this might also end up being one false quarterback move too many for Rhule when it’s all said and done.
