Rasul Douglas – Former Carolina Panthers CB

The Carolina Panthers could be losing both Donte Jackson and Stephon Gilmore in free agency. They do have some nice young cornerbacks to build around long-term, but the absence of two prolific veterans has the potential to significantly impact their hopes of genuine progression in 2022.

Signing a free agent could be something to consider if Jackson and Gilmore take their chances elsewhere. Although the price would be a lot steeper this time around, Rasul Douglas is going to be a hot commodity on the market if the Green Bay Packers cannot move enough money around to extend his stay.

Douglas was criticized for being incapable of man coverage during his 2020 season in Carolina. However, the corner answered these doubts and more during a sensational campaign with the Packers that sent his stock through the roof.

The former third-round pick gave up just 32 receptions from 63 targets en route to an impressive 74.8 grade from Pro Football Focus. Douglas helped himself to five interceptions and two defensive touchdowns, which was an extraordinary turnaround from a player who has also won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Again, the prospect of Douglas wanting to come back and work for Rhule after he discarded him during the previous offseason is unlikely. But someone needs to be sought if the free agents leave.
