Carolina Panthers could target Evan Engram

Evan Engram has been stuck in a dismal New York Giants’ offense throughout his five-year career. But he was a Pro-Bowl selection in 2020 and could command some interest on the free-agent market this spring.

Potential is a word that pops out when examining Engram. Thinking what could be if on a different team with the right coaching staff is something that’s proved to be the team’s undoing in the past with Sam Darnold.

Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo is very familiar with Engram after spending time as his head coach of the Giants during his rookie season. This could be an attractive option for the player to find a fit he is familiar with both with terminology and the playbook.

At 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, Engram has 4.4-second speed in the 40-yard dash that can outpace many linebackers. According to reports, teams are also looking at the player as a potential slot receiving option thanks to his pass-catching prowess.

The Giants repeatedly refused to trade him when inquired, so they see Engram’s value even though his statistics diminished on an anemic offense. He would provide a boost to the position and jockey with Ian Thomas for starting time, providing he can stay healthy.
