4 free-agent replacements for Carolina Panthers OLB Haason Reddick
Carolina Panthers could target Melvin Ingram
Melvin Ingram is a well-known and respected player across the league. His numbers have slowed down a bit over the years, but you can’t deny a savvy veteran to add to your team.
The former Pro Bowler could help the development of the younger players currently on the Carolina Panthers roster. Ingram has a variety of moves and sacks slowly come into his direction, which is matched by his surprising ability to impact proceedings in the run game.
Ingram being an older veteran could demand more money than the Panthers want to spend. A contender may be on his mind and there is also a chance the Kansas City Chiefs keep him around despite their current salary-cap complications, but Carolina making an offer cannot be ruled out if Haason Reddick signs elsewhere as expected.
Another thing that makes this scenario a possibility is Ingram’s connection to the area. He was born in Hamlet, attended Richmond High School, and also played his college football in South Carolina for good measure.
The Panthers should pursue Ingram for a popular homecoming if Reddick cannot be convinced to stay. Although it would be nothing more than a short-term option.
