Carolina Panthers could target Kenny Pickett

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers are running out of realistic options for an upgrade at the quarterback position. They’ve focused all their attention on Deshaun Watson and if this bold move fails, it’s a case of back to the drawing board after months of fierce speculation.

If Watson ends up on the New Orleans Saints, the chances of Carolina winning the divisional title decrease significantly. Especially with Tom Bray going back on his retirement for 2022 and possibly beyond.

Drafting a quarterback and building up other problem positional groups is the best way to secure a solid foundation. But taking one at No. 6 overall with so many questions could be something that comes back to haunt the Panthers in the worst possible way.

Kenny Pickett is a name that’s been heavily linked with the Panthers. He is regarded as the most pro-ready quarterback coming out of the college ranks and his previous connection to Matt Rhule is another element that cannot be overlooked.

Momentum has quashed slightly regarding Pickett thanks to the Watson situation. If the Panthers don’t get their man, then expect the rumors to begin swirling once again.

Pickett’s ceiling isn’t deemed to be as high as Malik Willis, but he could be the answer if Carolina wants an immediate turnaround in fortunes. Only time will tell as to whether or not they’ll need a signal-caller by this point.
