Carolina Panthers could reach for Tyler Linderbaum

There is absolutely no denying Tyler Linderbaum’s talent. He is projected by many to be the best center prospect entering the league for some time and if his transition goes according to plan, it could see the former Iowa stud enter Pro Bowl consideration in no time at all.

The Carolina Panthers didn’t appear too keen on taking an interior offensive lineman in the top-10 last season. This is why they passed on Rashawn Slater, a second-team All-Pro tackle who they thought was better suited as a guard at the next level.

Whether this grave error of judgment alters their train of thought this time around is unclear. But according to Joe Person of The Athletic, it appears unlikely as Carolina is put off slightly by Linderbaum’s lack of size compared to your typical center prospect.

That didn’t bother former Panthers legend Ryan Kalil, though.

Linderbaum is a tremendous player who is sure to achieve great things in the right scheme. Although unlikely, the prospect of him landing in Carolina cannot be ruled out with Matt Paradis out of contract and Pat Elflien’s less than stellar production throughout his career.

Of course, the Panthers could sign a capable free agent and look elsewhere at No. 6 overall. But Linderbaum has the chance to solidify the position for the next decade providing he stays clear of injury.
