4 desperate moves the Panthers might make after Deshaun Watson decision

Carolina Panthers could trade for Jimmy Garoppolo
After three consecutive five-win seasons, perhaps the best way for the Carolina Panthers to progress if they are intent on moving in a different direction once again is acquiring a veteran in the trade market. Whether that’s via trade or free agency has yet to be determined, but the pressure is now on after Deshaun Watson spurned their long-standing advances once again.
This was a desperate move given that Watson was willing to choose the Miami Dolphins over the Panthers to begin with. But if they haven’t got a Plan B or even Plan C to fall back on, it will be nothing short of catastrophic.
Jimmy Garoppolo is a player coming under increased speculation, which is to be expected considering the San Francisco 49ers gave up a substantial amount of draft capital to move up and select Trey Lance out of North Dakota State in 2021.
The signal-caller has a fantastic winning record and some playoff success, which even saw a Super Bowl appearance before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, much like the situation with Baker Mayfield, Garoppolo is seen more of someone teams win in spite of rather than a quarterback that can take a game over.
Desperate teams do desperate things. So this is a call Carolina might make depending on what compensation the Niners want.
John Lynch will know how thirsty the Panthers are for help under center. Getting fleeced for someone like Garoppolo is absolutely out of the question.
