4 second-year Panthers players with ‘stud or dud’ potential in 2022

Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR
Terrace Marshall Jr. is an interesting player to try and evaluate. The former LSU player was always in the shadow of teammates like Justin Jefferson or Ja’Marr Chase but quietly had solid seasons as a No. 2 option that could destroy teams in the red zone. A skillset the Carolina Panthers have been in desperate need of for as long as I can remember.
However, that never really translated in his rookie season and injuries hampered the big-bodied target even further. In over twice the amount of playing time and receptions that Shi Smith was afforded, Marshall only tallied around 30 more receiving yards and struggled to gain separation.
Even when the second-round pick was able to gain that separation, his hands were consistently an issue that saw Marshall catch barely over half the balls thrown his way.
These are not good signs as a receiver who can’t gain the needed distance from defenders and even when he does isn’t a sure-handed target. Out of the players on this list, Marshall has the most work to do by far as he was given the most opportunities to show his potential and he simply squandered them.
If Marshall doesn’t start showing something quickly, the Panthers might be back to square one in trying to find D.J. Moore some help on the outside. Hopefully, that won’t be the case.
