Carolina Panthers could target Eric Fisher
Not only was Duane Brown linked with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. But there is another veteran left tackle also on the team’s radar according to Sheena Quick of FOX Sports Radio 1340.
According to the reporter, Eric Fisher is reportedly being coveted by the Panthers, which would be a tremendous addition considering how well the Super Bowl winner and former No. 1 overall selection has performed throughout his career.
One could make the case that Fisher had a down year with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. The Central Michigan product gave up seven sacks and conceded eight penalties from 874 snaps en route to a modest 68.1 grade from Pro Football Focus, but he represents a steep upgrade on the likes of Cam Erving, who performed disappointingly as expected when tasked with manning the blindside.
Whether it’s Fisher, Brown, or somebody else, the Panthers are clearly on the lookout for a proven performer. This could open things up during the draft, with Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis sure to come under the microscope further at their respective pro days this week.
Fisher would be a nice addition providing the financial commitment isn’t more than one season initially. If he plays to or above expectations, then Carolina could then offer him a longer commitment as a result.
