Rashard Higgins bring reliability to the Carolina Panthers

If you discard Rashard Higgins’ 2021 season as a mulligan considering all the problems within the Cleveland Browns, then reliability is also something the talented wideout might be able to bring to the Carolina Panthers. Obviously, any player is only as good as their last year, but the front office clearly feels like he can be an asset to push others on the depth chart and provide some meaningful plays along the way.

It was a surprise to see Higgins become so non-existent for the Browns last season. In 2020, the player brought in an impressive 71.2 percent of targets thrown his way for 599 receiving yards and four touchdowns, which had some speculating whether this could be the springboard for bigger and better things in the future.

As of right now, the jury is still out on that one. But this seems like a good fit for Higgins with so many questions surrounding the likes of Robby Anderson, Terrace Marshall Jr., and Shi Smith.

A smooth transition is absolutely crucial for Higgins. If he integrates well within the locker room and builds some early confidence, then it would be a surprise if the wideout didn’t return to something like his old self in a different environment.

This is a low-risk, high-reward pickup for the Panthers. However, Higgins’ success could also come down to chemistry with whoever the team chooses to go with under center if Deshaun Watson turns them down.
