Carolina Panthers select Kellen Diesch

The additions of Bradley Bozeman and Austin Corbett should be significant for the Carolina Panthers. They are two interior offensive linemen with proven production and if their transition to a different environment goes smoothly, then it’s going to assist an untold amount.

Much will depend on where the Panthers plan to utilize Brady Christensen, who played almost everywhere aside from the center position as a rookie. If the coaching staff decides that his skill set is better suited to left guard, then they will need to acquire a franchise left tackle at some stage.

Passing on someone like Ikem Ekwonu or Charles Cross at No. 6 if they are on the board would be extremely difficult. If the Panthers decide to wait, then there might be a diamond in the rough awaiting them in the mid-rounds.

Kellen Diesch might be going under the radar compared to others. But the Arizona State product is supremely athletic and has the size to make a significant difference against the run and in pass protection with a little more refinement.

Diesch’s balance is exceptional and has the length to make things difficult for opposing pass-rushers. There is some work to do in run blocking and the player could also do with bulking up a little. But from a talent standpoint, it’s an absolute no-brainer for Carolina if he’s still on the board here.
