Baker Mayfield has shown immaturity

Ever since Baker Mayfield was a star at Oklahoma, his antics have been questionable. From sticking down a flag on Ohio State’s logo at midfield in 2017 to grabbing his crotch during a game against Kansas, the signal-caller has caused some controversy throughout his career.

In the NFL, Mayfield hasn’t gotten into any trouble off the field. But he has rubbed some players the wrong way while on it.

He is very outspoken on social media and seemed to aggravate the Cleveland Browns last week when he posted a goodbye letter to the city before the team had even traded for Deshaun Watson.

While it’s not a crime to be active on social media or have a personality, just like former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton did, Mayfield hasn’t fully lived up to the talk like many outgoing stars have.

When Odell Beckham Jr. demanded to be traded from Cleveland, that also looked bad for Mayfield after the wide receiver enjoyed tremendous success with the Los Angeles Rams that eventually finished with a Super Bowl triumph.

The Browns reportedly even said they want an “adult” at quarterback. A damning indictment on Mayfield’s leadership and proof Carolina is better looking at alternatives.
