4 big observations the Panthers can take from Matt Corral’s pro day

Carolina Panthers must not sleep on Matt Corral
Although the momentum is clearly with Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis if the Carolina Panthers do go through with taking a quarterback at No. 6 overall, the primary decision-makers within the organization would be wise not to sleep on Matt Corral and his exciting set of skills. This might be a reach in the top-10, but it’s also worth remembering general manager Scott Fitterer could look for a trade-down partner given that their next selection isn’t until the fourth-round at pick No.137.
If this is something Carolina can do if Willis and/or Pickett come off the board, then Corral comes into play. It might not be the flashiest pick in the world, but the former Ole Miss star could be able to assist quickly providing he transitions smoothly within Ben McAdoo’s pro system.
Some do have their doubts about this, but if McAdoo signs off on Corral, that should be good enough given his strong reputation for analyzing college quarterbacks and whether or not they can succeed at the next level.
There appears little doubt that Corral will go in the first round barring a drastic slide. One could make a case for at least four teams looking for a long-term option under center and the Detroit Lions might also pull the trigger at No. 2 overall that would completely shift the draft’s landscape.
The Panthers must be ready for anything. But one thing is for sure, Corral is going to remain composed and take wherever he lands right in his stride.
